Overview

Overview

Kati is a Thai-style gelato and cocktail café located in the heart of Toronto. The brand aims to bring a fresh, fun, and culturally rich dessert experience to the city’s food scene. As a brand-new business, Kati needed a website that stood out visually from typical Western gelato shops, communicated their menu clearly, and reflected the unique blend of Thai authenticity with a retro-modern twist.

What I Did

What I Did

  • Designed a responsive website aligned with Kati’s playful yet sophisticated brand identity

  • Embedded brand elements across the UI—from button shapes to background patterns—to build strong visual recognition

  • Ensured visual consistency and clear hierarchy throughout all pages

  • Worked collaboratively with the brand designer to maintain a cohesive voice across print and digital

  • Used Framer to build and prototype the site

  • Conducted layout testing across different devices to guarantee responsive performance

  • Prioritized clear presentation of product descriptions and prices for a smooth user journey

The Challenge

The Challenge

As a new business with no online presence, the main challenge was to create a strong first impression and establish brand recall. The site needed to convey not only Kati’s product offering but also its distinct personality—fun, Thai-inspired, and memorable—all while remaining easy to navigate and accessible across all screen sizes.

Design Approach

Design Approach

I fully embraced Kati’s brand personality by integrating its visual identity across every element—color palette (sangria orange and creamy beige), typography, patterns, and playful UI features. The layout was kept clean yet lively, with bold visuals of menu items and scrollable flavor options. A mobile-first design mindset guided decisions to ensure smooth interactions for users on all devices.
