Overview

Overview

Wang Lang is a Thai restaurant in Toronto offering a rich, authentic dining experience. The owners wanted a new website that would reflect their unique identity—traditional yet modern—and enhance the overall user experience for visitors exploring their extensive menu. The goal was to build a site that was both visually aligned with the brand and functionally optimized for usability across all devices.

What I Did

What I Did

  • Conducted stakeholder interviews to identify business goals and user pain points

  • Performed a usability study on the old website to assess navigation and content issues

  • Created user flows and wireframes to improve information architecture

  • Designed a responsive website with clear categorization and dish details

  • Developed and tested a sticky category menu to support intuitive browsing

  • Iteratively refined the design based on real-user feedback and usability testing

The Challenge

The Challenge

With an extensive menu spanning multiple categories, the original site made it difficult for users to find what they were looking for. The challenge was to redesign the structure to improve information accessibility and browsing efficiency—especially on mobile devices—while preserving the restaurant’s traditional Thai branding.

Design Approach

Design Approach

I followed Wang Lang’s brand identity by using sangria red and bright gold, colors that symbolize the richness of Thai cuisine and culture. To improve the user experience, I implemented a sticky category navigation that allows users to quickly jump between sections of the menu. The entire website was designed to be responsive, ensuring a seamless experience on screens of all sizes. Usability testing guided several design refinements to meet both user and business needs effectively.
